Bev Mattson - Music & Worship Arts Director
As a leader of music and worship ministries, Bev’s goal is to encourage persons of all generations to feel welcome in sharing their gifts and talents through a variety of programs at LUMC. Bev’s work for over 30+ years has evolved steadily from substitute organist to her current position as organist/pianist, worship designer and adult choir leader at all the traditional worship services. Bev’s passion for music ministry and creative worship extends to the celebration of various forms of art in worship, including dance, instrumental music, chimes, drama and the visual arts.
Bev studied music and elementary education at Keene State College while continuing private organ lessons through college. She attended Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and Andover-Newton Theological Seminary to take graduate courses towards attaining further education in specialized ministry. Bev received her United Methodist Certification in Music Ministry at the United Methodist New England Annual Conference in June 2003. As an active member of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music, Worship and Other Arts, Bev attends national conferences every other summer to gain new skills and to discover new resources which will further enhance worship through inspirational liturgy and music.
Bev and her husband, Rod, live in Stratham and have three married children who grew up at LUMC. Bev and Rod are also proud grandparents. Bev plays organ and piano for weddings and funerals throughout the community and teaches private piano lessons in her home.
